The Haus rules
Belonging needs boundaries.
These standards explain how we protect people, what the forum stores, what may be public, and how members can control or delete their accounts.

Community standards
The room stays welcoming when everyone helps hold it.
These expectations apply to profiles, topics, replies, reactions, reports, and any content later shared with Discord.
Honor identity
Use people’s names and pronouns. Racism, homophobia, transphobia, misogyny, ableism, antisemitism, or other identity-based hostility is not welcome.
Respect consent
No harassment, coercion, threats, stalking, unwanted sexual attention, or repeated contact after someone asks you to stop.
Protect privacy
Do not post private messages, legal names, locations, contact details, images, or identifying information without clear permission.
Keep public rooms shareable
Explicit sexual content, graphic violence, scams, spam, malware, and unsafe links do not belong in public forum rooms.
Practice responsible care
Recovery and harm-reduction discussion should be compassionate and practical. Do not encourage dangerous behavior or present community advice as medical care.
Credit creators
Share only work you have permission to post. Credit artists and performers, and do not impersonate another person or organization.
Use the report tools
Report concerns privately instead of escalating them publicly. False or retaliatory reports may lead to account restrictions.
Moderation
Care with an audit trail.
Moderators act to protect the community, not to win an argument.
Who moderates the website forum
Terra Highman is the sole website-forum moderator for the current release. Go-Go Dancer and Haus Bouncer responsibilities remain within Discord and do not automatically grant access to the private website moderation workspace. A website Haus Bouncer account may be added later if forum traffic requires additional coverage.
What moderators may do
Depending on severity and history, approved Haus staff may hide content, lock a topic, dismiss or resolve a report, suspend participation, ban an account, or preserve relevant material for review.
How decisions are recorded
Staff actions require a reason and are written to the protected moderation audit. Reports and audit details are not copied into public rooms or Discord.
Urgent situations
The forum is not an emergency, medical, or mental-health service. If someone is in immediate danger, contact local emergency services. U.S. visitors can also call or text 988. The Lantern Room resource page provides additional official starting points.
Website and Discord
Two doors. Clear boundaries.
The website forum and Discord community share the Haus mission while operating as separate community spaces.
Forum conversations stay on the website
All Haus Forum rooms are website-only. Topics and replies are not copied to Discord, and Discord messages are not imported into the forum.
Discord remains optional
Visitors may use the forum without joining or connecting a Discord account. Members who also use the Discord server participate there separately.
Private information stays private
Email addresses, authentication details, private reports, staff notes, moderation audits, and private account information are never posted to Discord.

The forum collects only what is needed to operate accounts, conversations, safety tools, and passwordless email sign-in.

No sale of member data: the Haus does not sell forum account information or use it to build advertising profiles.
Forum retention schedule
Keep what protects the room. Release what no longer needs to stay.
This schedule applies to the public Haus Forum.
- Active account and profile
- Kept while the account remains active, then removed or de-identified when a verified deletion request is completed.
- Unconfirmed account registrations
- Reviewed for removal after 30 days if the email address was never confirmed and the account was never used.
- Topics and replies
- Kept as part of the community record while the forum operates. After account deletion, authorship may be de-identified; content may remain unless safety, privacy, or legal reasons support removal.
- Reports and moderation audit
- Kept for up to 24 months after the final related action, or longer when needed for an active appeal, safety pattern, abuse prevention, or legal obligation.
- Technical, authentication, bot-protection, and email logs
- Kept under the operational schedules of the hosting, authentication, security, and email providers, then removed or aggregated by those systems.
Account control
Your account should never feel like a locked door.
To request account deletion or a copy/correction of your forum profile information, email the Haus from the address connected to the account. Verification may be required before a request is completed. Safety, moderation, or legal records may be retained only where the schedule above allows it.
